That’ll never be me
That’ll never be me…
That’ll never be, never be me.
NO… NO, NEVER, NEVER, EVER.
And don’t you EVER THINK IT.

WATCH THIS SHOW!!!

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

You like to laugh, right?  Funny IS good, is it not??  Then watch NBC’s 30 Rock starting TONIGHT!  Easily the best comedy on TV right now, it’s hurting for viewers, at least in the current network climate, and it could use the help. STAND UP AND BE COUNTED FOR QUALITY TELEVISION COMEDIES!!!

Move ON with it, already!!!

As a reader who is running out of patience for what feels like the 47th time in the last decade or so with Superman the ongoing series, this solicitation had me ready to call my local shop to get it taken off my pull list…

SUPERMAN #667

Part 1 of the action-packed 2-part finale of “Camelot Falls,” by Kurt Busiek, Carlos Pacheco & Jesus Merino!

“Part ONE of a 2-part finale” to a story that’s gone on how long now???

Jesus, Kurt, can we spin a new yarn already?? “Camelot Falls” was a story only moderately worthy of the three to four parts it got initially, then they break up things with some negligible filler stories, only to hit us with another 5-parter or what-the-hell-ever???

And they sprinkle in the more fill-ins, only to get back to this endless “epic” that feels like it’s stretching out the length of Arion’s lifetime??

And help us if DC’s brass ever wonders why we keep praising the way All Star Superman simply GETS IT, even when we only get a select few issues a year.

The REAL Chicago competition: Act I

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Recently I threw down the gauntlet on behalf of Chicago baseball fans as to who would take the low road more often with the Cubs and the White Sox respectively featuring two of the game’s most volatile managers.

Right now my money is going on the White Sox. From the owner and the general manager, down to the skipper and the players, this is a team that has issues on every level.

I Wonder

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like Time Warner is doing a dandy job fucking up Wonder Woman. The ongoing series is an ongoing train wreck, and plenty of readers agree. It’s a miracle that new readers exist.

I don’t know if we’re EVER gonna get a decent motion picture.

Seems like the only one done right by Time Warner in 2007 so far is Lynda Carter, everyone’s favorite Amazon, appearing in Smallville.
Chicago baseball prevented me from seeing it, but I heard it was pretty sweet.

Hopefully 2008 shapes up better than 2007.

THIS GUY Drew First Blood??

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Here I was ready to keep score on the inevitable douchebaggery to take place this year between the Chicago Cubs’ Lou Piniella and the White Sox’ Ozzie Guillen, and they are both beaten to the punch, and then some, by Don Imus??
That’s like shooting fish in a barrel!!
I guess I’m torn in that I CLEARLY DISAGREE with the God-awful comments Imus made at the expense of Rutgers University women’s basketball team, but I keep wondering if Don Imus matters. I guess he does because he attracts a lot of listeners/viewers – it’s just he seems very irrelevant to me and those I consider my peers.

Much like this one guy who frequents Newsarama who goes by the handle “Graeme.”
No charge. ;-)

All things considered, though, Imus should thank his lucky stars that he’s not employed by the NFL.

Penguin Boom

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

With the inundation of penguins we’ve gotten over the last year or two, I’m surprised Warner Bros. didn’t scuttle their plans with The Dark Knight in favor of a movie focusing on Oswald Cobblepot.

Speaking of The Penguin, I don’t think it gets much more funny than Jon Stewart’s coverage of our vice president.

Also, a Happy Birthday wish to one of my all-time favorite guitarists, David Gilmour.

The Big Question with Missy Suicide: 10-28-04

“Breaking Bread with The Rev” Edition
with Missy Suicide of SuicideGirls.com
Big Questions with The Rev. OJ Flow

I was introduced to the Suicide Girls world at the beginning of 2003 when SPIN magazine ran an article on DIY websites for the punk, goth, and emo set. I became instantly infatuated with SuicideGirls.com for the obvious reason that there were girls that I could relate to doing pin-up work in a site that was virtually self-run, as opposed to the airbrushed plasticity of Playboy, Penthouse and other similar venues. But I also came to find that the community that was established was infectious and addictive. The popular theory on SG is that people come for the women, but they stay for the community. The site is incredibly user-friendly and easy to navigate, it’s relatively inexpensive compared to typical adult entertainment sites, and it has so much to material offer for men and women aside from the “nude & tattooed” that it’s easy to forget that it is in fact adult entertainment by definition.

Just this week, SG features interviews with film directors Alexander Payne and Antoine Fuqua, actor Topher Grace, and Ren & Stimpy creator Jon Kricfalusi. They have an incredibly active message board with forums ranging from sex & relationships, to comics, TV & politics. While the folks at SG never reveal their exact numbers, it is known that they do receive over a million hits a month, and the guy-to-girl subscriber ratio is surprisingly balanced. It’s easy to make friends on the site who share common interests (while maintaining confidentiality, if desired), and I myself have made some great acquaintances — in person and online, guy and girl — from all parts of the globe.

Missy Suicide is the founder of this incredibly successful site (all models and employees take on the “Suicide” surname when they join the family), not to mention SG’s best photographer.
