Michiko to Hatchin

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Michiko is a free-willed “sexy diva” who destroyed a supposedly inescapable fortress, while Hatchin is a girl fleeing her strict foster parents. The two join forces on an improbable escape to freedom, with a woman named Atsuko Jackson in hot pursuit.

From the same director who brought us Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo comes “Michiko to Hatchin”, with music composed by the genius himself Shinichiro Watanabe. This series just screams style go check out the trailer, on a side note can anyone say bitch fight! LOL!

Kurogane no Linebarrel

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Fourteen-year-old Kouichi Hayase’s life has always been a mediocre one, if not dismal. However, those days of being bullied by classmates and escaping to a fantasy of being a hero are put to an end when a certain “accident” bestows on him a girl and a gigantic humanoid robot called “LINEBARREL”. The extraordinary power that Kouichi obtains puts him and everything around him on a sudden rollercoaster ride of battles, intrigues and friendship.

During the course of his adventure, the boy starts to learn what life has to offer; he meets new friends, bids farewell to the old ones, but most of all he now has considerable responsibilities and is forced to confront the world around him. I know almost absolutely nothing about this upcoming title, other than the fact that it is based off a manga. But the preview looks really good so I will keep a eye on this one. More information about Kurogane no Linebarrel can be found on the Official Site.

Shikabane Hime (Corpse Princess)

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

The immortal girl, “Shikabane Hime,” has the mission to “kill” 108 corpses. It’s a contract she has between herself and the Buddhist monk, Keisei. After 108 corpses, she will finally get her happiness and go to heaven. The story starts off with a bunch of high school students, taking the dare to go into at abandoned building that has been half destroyed by a fire. It was rumored to be haunted. Just a rumor, right? Not when real corpses start showing up and attacking them. And that is where they meet the Shikabane Hime.

I am pretty amped to watch this, since the manga was a really good read and the fact that its Gainax the very same people who bought us Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is going to be doing the animation so it can only mean good things. It is slated for release in October more information about the anime can be found on the Official Site, also check out the trailer that was released for it today.

Max Payne Movie Images

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Well last night I downloaded the 1080P Hi-Definition trailer of the Max Payne theatrical trailer and at just under 170MB for two and a half minutes it was well worth the bandwidth used and I am now even more amped for the movie. So I took it upon myself to take a couple of screenshots from the trailer and post them here for you to take a look at. I unfortunately had to resize them as they where a bit big to post online but the quality is still excellent so go check it out. You can find more eye candy goodness here.

New Max Payne Theatrical Trailer

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Well I was a bit skeptical at first when I heard the news about the Max Payne movie that is currently in production staring Mark Wahlberg. Every time they make another movie adaptation of a game franchise I cringe at the thought of them fucking it up. The teaser trailer that was posted online also did not really convince me, but with this new theatrical trailer I am now totally convinced that this movie will not follow the same trend. And personally I cant wait for its release in October, check out the new trailer and see for yourself.

Madhouse to adapt Marvel comic book franchises into Anime

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Marvel Entertainment announced today that Madhouse entertainment will produce four new anime series featuring adapted Marvel characters, including Wolverine and Iron Man, for the Japanese market. Madhouse will adapt the look of the characters to fit the anime style, and the stories. These will also include all of the backstory and history of each character, incorporating Japanese culture and history into them. This just might breath some fresh air into some old franchises, especially after the runaway success of Batman: Gotham Knight. I guess we will just have to wait and see if they can pull it off or screw it up.

According to the Moonphase Website a new Fullmetal Alchemist series has been confirmed. As some of you may recall there was some news  leaked about this about three month ago which caused a huge uproar in the online anime community. Which also caused Studio Bones to scramble to find the leak and take the appropriate legal action against them. But back then it was simply just seen as a rumor an nothing else. A formal announcement will be made regarding the details of the second season in the 20th issue of manga tomorrow. The new series is reported to be a remake that will follow closely to the original manga. Broadcast is rumored to begin in April of 2009.

Good news for fans of the Birdy Mighty series, according to Moonphase Diary, a second season of Birdy the Mighty Decode is scheduled for release in January 2009. The original announcement was made on the staff’s blog last weekend. Now I just need to find a fansub group that is still subbing the first series as the sub group I went with (Chroma) seems to have “died”.

Xam’d Lost Memories Revisited

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I usually only do one first impressions/mini review on the first episode of a new anime series, but on rare occasions I will go back and do one of another episode that impressed me. In this case the second episode of Xam’d Lost Memories, which by the way really left a serious impression on me after I finished watching it last night. And might I just add I think Studio BONES managed to produce a title that in my opinion might be even better than Eureka Seven, although it still might be a bit early to state something so boldly.
