Well, folks, it’s been fun. Troy wanted me to take this one and let you all know our exciting news. We hit the radar of several companies, as we recently made some large jumps in viewers of the site. We took several bids, and Home Depot won out. Now, I know that seems like a weird fit, and it is, but they’re looking to diversify. You’ll see the color scheme change first thing- we’re going to Home Depot Orange. You will see a few Home Depot ads, but nothing too obstructive. So don’t worry, and welcome us to the Home Depot family. Also, it should be noted, Shots in the Dark will now be an all hardware podcast. The Geek news was fun, but hey, nothing lasts forever.
Hey, kids; our own Brian Andersen shared this exciting news . . .

It seems noted temperamental “star” Edward Norton (when was he last seen in a popular movie or, I dunno, just a movie in general?) is not-so-quietly battling with Marvel over the upcoming final cut of The Incredible Hulk movie. I say “not-so-quietly” only because someone must have leaked this beef between Norton and Marvel, unless of course it’s just some marketing ploy to get the movie on the pop culture radar, which really wouldn’t surprise me in today’s controversy loving media. I tend to believe in the veracity of this rumor over marketing ploy, or mere smear-campaign, simply because I live on the web and eat up all and every aspect of pop culture goodness and I find when a story like this makes it onto more than one news/gossip site, well, there’s some truth in “them thar’ hills.”
Apparently Norton wanting a bigger say in the final cut of the film and Marvel is not exactly agreeing with Norton’s input, (or vice a versa depending on your source) and both sides are “working” to come to an understanding. With the June 13th premier date looming over the horizon Marvel really needs to nail down a final cut, with or without Norton’s stamp of approval. If Marvel does go forth with their vision for the film, which kinda makes sense seeing as how this is their property, their character, and when the chips are down and everything is totaled up, if the movie does badly it will be Marvel that will suffer for it. It’s Marvel that stands to be the most effected if the movie tanks: they stand to loose in theatrical revenue, toy line sales, future sequels profits and further Hulk opportunities (cartoon anyone), whereas Norton will most likely remain unscathed by the movie crashing and burning and will just happily move along to his next project (like Eric Bana did in the first Hulk movie!).
Friend of the site Robert Kurtzman posted a rather interesting bulletin via MySpace. For those who don’t know, Robert Kurtzman is the legendary filmmaker known for creating From Dusk Til Dawn (check that story credit) and knocking out the FX for fan-favorites like Evil Dead 2. His film The Rage was the subject of the Beneath the Valley of the Rage comic book that I was the Associate Editor for via Fangoria Comics.
And The Rage is what he decided to talk about today . . .
“The RAGE has been on the Top New Horror releases on Amazon. com for the past several weeks. Available at the great price of 9.99, The RAGE has 3 hours of entertainment value packed into one special addition DVD.
Available in rated and unrated versions.
If you’re a horror fan or drive-in movie freak like me, then make sure you check out the THE RAGE with friends and have a great time hooting and hollering at the screen.
The new international Speed Racer trailer debuted this past weekend. I can’t actually believe I want to see this now. First mentions of Speed Racer being made into a movie, I had thought the market had seriously been dried up if the studios had to go THAT route. Then, the cast started to come together: Emile Hirsch as Speed, Christina Ricci as Trixie, Mathew Fox as X (earlier reports had Vince Vaughn), and John Goodman as Pops.
I’ll be first in line when this comes out. It looks like a damn good time.
