The Animal is exactly what you should be expecting
when you pay $7.50 to see a former SNL-member ham it up on
the big screen, no more no less. If you go wanting to see
a high-brow comedic extravaganza, you WILL be disappointed.
If you show up, preferably drunk, expecting some fine sophomoric
humor, and some mostly clothed t'n'a from Survivor's Colleen,
then have at it.
The plot, as it were, involves cop-wannabe Schneider receiving
a transplant performed by a mad scientist from a number of
different animals in order to save his life. Appropriate animal
parts or behaviors are featured prominantly to most bizarre
and embarrassing effect, leading to shenanigans of varying
hilarity. The usual SNL gang makes their cameos (my hero Norm
McDonald features some of the movie's best lines).
You already
know whether or not you will enjoy this movie. It's somewhat
better than Deuce Bigalow, but not as good as Happy
Gilmore. For fans of the SNL subgenre of big screen comedy,
it's a nice evening's diversion.
Note: Colleen does not get naked, but she does shed
some clothing. And I'm proud to say that she can act, too.
