McCain’s V.P. and Giving a F—

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

I have to say that I’m kind of mystified by the “VPILF” movement. I’m not mystified by it as a basis for humor. I’m mystified by it as a possible basis for which to place a vote.

Let’s not go crazy here. She’s not Monica Bellucci. She’s not Priyanka Chopra. She’s not Carrie Fisher in the Slave Leia outfit.

The list of people that I would vote for based solely on attractiveness is pretty damn short. And for the poor deluded bastards that may make a decision based on this criteria, here’s a reminder: just because she’s got five kids, it doesn’t mean that she’ll put out for you.

Kids, I have my own opinions, but I don’t care who you vote for as long as your head and hand are pulling the lever. Pull your own lever far away from the voting booth. It’s smarter, it’s safer, and it’s sanitary. Thank you.

Max Payne Movie Images

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Well last night I downloaded the 1080P Hi-Definition trailer of the Max Payne theatrical trailer and at just under 170MB for two and a half minutes it was well worth the bandwidth used and I am now even more amped for the movie. So I took it upon myself to take a couple of screenshots from the trailer and post them here for you to take a look at. I unfortunately had to resize them as they where a bit big to post online but the quality is still excellent so go check it out. You can find more eye candy goodness here.

New Max Payne Theatrical Trailer

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Well I was a bit skeptical at first when I heard the news about the Max Payne movie that is currently in production staring Mark Wahlberg. Every time they make another movie adaptation of a game franchise I cringe at the thought of them fucking it up. The teaser trailer that was posted online also did not really convince me, but with this new theatrical trailer I am now totally convinced that this movie will not follow the same trend. And personally I cant wait for its release in October, check out the new trailer and see for yourself.

Constant Velocity: Muttonhead

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Constant Velocity
is a trio out of Bloomington, Illinois and “Muttonhead” is their latest album that was released earlier this year. Their sound is unique. Stirring, yet quirky. They’ve been compared to the Violent Femmes and the Minutemen. They’ve been put in the “punk” pigeonhole, though I don’t really hear that. They remind of me of a heavier version of Cake with some country (yes, country) mixed in.

The second season of Vampire Knight entitled “Guilty” is scheduled for release in October 2009 on TV Tokyo in Japan, and is slated for a 13 episode release. I still have not gotten around to watching the first season, but will get to it soon enough. In the mean time check out the trailer for the second season here.

Madhouse to adapt Marvel comic book franchises into Anime

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Marvel Entertainment announced today that Madhouse entertainment will produce four new anime series featuring adapted Marvel characters, including Wolverine and Iron Man, for the Japanese market. Madhouse will adapt the look of the characters to fit the anime style, and the stories. These will also include all of the backstory and history of each character, incorporating Japanese culture and history into them. This just might breath some fresh air into some old franchises, especially after the runaway success of Batman: Gotham Knight. I guess we will just have to wait and see if they can pull it off or screw it up.

‘W.’ - Am I high on crazy pills or does this look good?!?

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Oliver Stone’s ‘W.’ is just around the corner…and I find myself really sold based on the cast alone. Check out the trailer for yourself.

I mean, I’m not a big fan of the man–but…the movie looks good. Now, discuss.

Beverly Hills Chihua-what-the-f@%k?!?

Would Walt Disney find the dismantling of Disney’s traditional animation studio in favor of producing junk like this more or less insulting than lining up the entire Anti-Defamation League to take a long piss on his cryogenically frozen corpse? Discuss.

The Watchmen Trailer: An Age-Old Issue

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Spoiler Alert: but if you haven’t read Watchmen, why the heck not? I mean, speaking as someone who just read it for the first time herself, after years of being lectured about it, I can tell you honestly that they were all right, everyone who said these words to me.

The Watchmen trailer is beautiful, a comic fan’s wet dream—it’s lush and dark and brooding and scary, and the world is perfect. It gives away a little too much, but that’s not my biggest complaint.

It rubbed me the wrong way only for one reason—the ages are all wrong.

Preview & Review: Halloween: 30 Years of Terror from Devil’s Due

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

John Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’ is my favorite movie of all time. Nothing in cinematic history comes remotely close to my love of all things ‘the Shape’; so, you can imagine that I took very special interest when Devil’s Due revealed earlier this year that they would be working together with writer Stefan Hutchinson and Malek Akkad of Compass International Films (a subsidiary of Trancas International Films, Inc.) to produce new Halloween material for fans of the franchise and horror comic fans alike.

Click HERE for a 5 page preview of Halloween: 30 Years of Terror.
