It seems that Top Cow Productions, Arclight Films and Platinum Studios are teaming up for a live action feature film adaptation of the Top Cow comic book series Witchblade. The Witchblade saga centers around Sara Pezzini, a tough-as-nails NYPD homicide detective who comes into possession of the Witchblade, a supernatural, sentient artifact with immense destructive and protective powers. The weapon has bonded with various women throughout history, the most recent being Danielle Baptiste. Others who have come into contact with the Witchblade include Cleopatra and Joan of Arc. Sara struggles to hone the awesome powers of the Witchblade and fend off those with a nefarious interest in it, especially entrepreneur Kenneth Irons.

I cannot wait for this one, if the TV series was anything to go by then the movie is also going to be really good. I would really like to see Yancy Butler return as Sara Pezzini, but I don’t really see that happening anymore due to problems in her personal life. She was ordered to enter rehab for alcoholism after the second season of the TV show aired, she was found wandering around drunk in peak traffic. A lot of people have speculated that it was one of the main reasons why the show, that was critically acclaimed and popular with audiences got canceled after just 2 shows.
