Your 90s Moment for the Day
Sunday, April 20th, 2008CON JOB: Covering Convention News (NYCC ‘08 Part Three: “House of Ideas” my ass )
Saturday, April 19th, 2008Why didn’t anybody tell me there was a new Portishead album coming out this month?!
Saturday, April 19th, 2008CON JOB: Covering Convention News (NYCC ‘08 Part Two)
Saturday, April 19th, 2008FUCK YEAH! Gail Simone and Nicola Scott are launching a Secret Six ongoing series!
It’s day two at the NYCC, and thus far, Marvel has been severely underwhelming in terms of big announcements. DC, on the other hand, has been kicking my ass with news. First, there was the announcement of a Power Girl ongoing with the thoroughly awesome Amanda Connor on art; now, it’s a Secret Six ongoing by Gail Simone and Nicola Scott. The previous Secret Six minis are my favorite works by Simone, and given the group’s relatively low profile since the last one, I didn’t think we’d be getting a new mini-series, let alone a monthly title. Now if only DC Direct will get off their keisters and make a Catman action figure… and a Deadshot that doesn’t look anorexic…
CON JOB: Covering Convention News (NYCC ‘08 Part One)
Friday, April 18th, 2008DC announces ongoing Power Girl series
FINALLY. Here’s a series I can definitely get excited about. I’m not much of a Power Girl fan, so the idea of a monthly series starring the character doesn’t really do a heck of a lot for me. But I have been waiting years for Amanda Connor to choose a regular, monthly assignment, so the subject really doesn’t matter to me. This is an automatic purchase.

DreamWorks to Make Live-Action Ghost in the Shell Movie
Friday, April 18th, 2008After 19 years since it’s release in 1989 someone has finally decided to secure the rights to produce a movie based of the original movie and manga. DreamWorks has finally secured the rights to adapt the Japanese manga and anime series Ghost in the Shell into a 3D live-action feature film. But it seems they weren’t the only ones who were chasing after the rights to produce a film based off the animated movie. Both Universal and Sony were also in discussions to secure the rights, till Steven Spielberg stepped in personally and took matters into his own hands.
Eureka 7 Movie Announced
Friday, April 18th, 2008The April issue of Kadokawa Shoten’s Newtype magazine has officially announced that an Eureka Seven movie has been approved for production by Studio Bones. Kenichi Yoshida (Overman King Gainer), and special effects director Yasushi Muraki (Ah! My Goddess: The Movie, The Skull Man) will reportedly return to animate the new movie with new mecha and character design. And reportedly a new form of story telling for the plot/story of the Eureka 7 movie. Although the creators are promising a new Eureka Seven story it will still feature Renton and Eureka from the original tv series.

The State of Indiana Is About to Die Today
Friday, April 18th, 2008Read for yourself here and here. Earlier this week, we got attacked by a meteorite, and then it was covered up with some lame story about National Guard airplanes. I suppose that’s because they don’t want people driving up to Tipton trying to get superpowers or unleash a zombie apocalypse or something.
Here’s a joke that only Birdsong and Troy will get: when the quakes happen at work, it really only feels like George Weliever is walking by.
The WEDF…er, WWE is messing up again.
Friday, April 18th, 2008A couple of days ago, I got back from vacation, so my internet access time was somewhat limited. So yesterday as I browsed all my favorite sites (one being sescoops.com…even though sometimes I feel like I’m playing Galaga with the pop-ups) and I learn that ECW has a new announcer to replace Joey Styles. His name is Mike Adamle. I have never heard of him before, so I begin the google search. A handsome enough guy, though reminds me a tad of William Regal. Anyroad, I read articles about him and how he’s known for fudging lines and being out of touch with the product. Adamle also has a very hefty price: around $300,000 a year. Though the reasoning of the switch is interesting to me. Apparently, Joey Styles made the announcement that he will be the “head of WWE.com”. Though according to PWInsider.com WWE employee Brian Kalinowski will still be in charge of WWE.com, however Styles will assume a “managing editor” role, similar to what Michael Cole used to do.
So here’s the problem I have: they promoted some high-price nitwit and just replaced one of the greatest play-by-play announcers of our generation. Michael Cole used to be an announcer and run the site…so, couldn’t they have just had Styles do both, give HIM the raise, and fire some no-namer? I mean, that would save the company a little bit of money and frees up Adamle’s time to do whatever he wants.
PWInsider.com also notes that while Styles may be gone from tv airings, he will continue to attend the weekly SmackDown & ECW tapings. Along with that, he will also attend WWE RAW every night and will be sitting in on meetings with WWE’s creative team. Management wants Styles to be aware of upcoming storylines and know what to emphasize on the website.
Though with this youtube video made by Burngun50, I’m thinking it will only be a matter of time before Styles returns.
You call that a debate???

That was painful to watch, and I blame neither candidate for it, really, the Republican OR the Democrat.
The less people see of that performance by ABC News, the better.
Da Pope
Thursday, April 17th, 2008So…the pope is in the U.S. That’s cool. But all I can think about is the fact that I don’t believe Jesus ever intended us to worship his holy name in the Washington Nationals baseball stadium.
Maybe I’m just old fashioned.
I also wish we had a pope who didn’t look like the evil leader of the Galactic Empire.
Batman: Gotham Knight animated video to come soon
Thursday, April 17th, 2008
“Batman: Gotham Knight” is an animated collaboration between six different artists/writers who will be using Japanese Anime for the animation. The animated movie takes place in between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. It is going to be similar to another movie project that attempted the same type/style/art and directing called “The Animatrix“. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Animatrix movie since some of the short stories were brilliantly done while others were just plain mediocre. A few of the Japanese animation companies that will work on the segments will be Madhouse, Studio 4*C, & Production I.G. (Of Ghost In The Shell fame.)
The movie will be directed by Bruce Timm, co-creator and producer of Batman: The Animated Series and he will be collaborating between six different writers, which are: Josh Olson, David Goyer, Brian Azzarello, Greg Rucka, Jordan Goldberg, and Alan Burnett.
