Artwork from something called “Marvel Apes”, which was teased at today’s “Cup ‘O Joe” panel:

Hmmm… That looks strangely familiar. Where have I seen that before?
Oh, I remember now:

Not only is it strangely familiar, but equally as silly. Notice how the “Captain Ameri-ape” looks just like the “Aqua-Ape” from the JLA.
The Baboon is a nice touch, but how many issues until we get a “Planet of the Apes” homage with Lady Liberty on a beach and “Wolver-ape” riding by on a horse?
You would’ve thought that turning popular heroes into animals would have been ruled “a bad idea” after that live-action “Super-pup” thing in the ’50’s.
Fingers crossed that “Marvel Apes” is simply a joke on Marvel’s part.
P.S. - Transformers: Beast Wars sucked too. Maybe I’m biased, but I prefer my sentient robot beings as vehicles.

The DC piece is better because the all-gorilla squad is funnier in a goofy way than the just plain lame idea of trying to match each character to a different ape/monkey. Plus, the art on the DC piece is much better with a much more dynamic pose and better colors. What’s next: Marvel Zombies vs. Marvel Apes?

Re. Dick. You. Luss. What, are simians the new hydrocephalus? You know, those stories from the 60s where everyone at one time got a super-enlarged dome?
Comics are going the way of Hollywood: running out of ideas.

Maybe the Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew or the Just’a Lotta Animals will come in and clean their clocks for them.
