CON JOB: Covering Convention News (Wizard World L.A. Part 3: The Search for More Money)
Secret Invasion roars into comic shops soon. And it comes without a whole lotta extra books to buy.
Here’s the panel report at Newsarama. As you can see, there are going to be a number of tie-ins and crossovers. In fact, it’s indicated in the conversation that Secret Invasion almost tacitly requires that you read New Avengers and Mighty Avengers to keep up.
Other titles are . . .
A Secret Invasion Front Line, where hopefully we’ll spared comparisons of the Skrulls to Al-Qaeda (but I’m not holding my breath).
Captain Britain and MI:13, which I guess isn’t an official piece but will track some of the story.
Secret Invasion: Who Do You Trust special. I know this isn’t intentional on their part, but when I hear “Who do you trust?” in a comics context, I always think of The Joker from the 1989 Batman movie.
Incredible Hercules will tie-in tightly.
Fantastic Four: Secret Invasion, and Young Avengers/Runaways: Secret Invasion, which make some sense due to the Skrull members or history (read: Lyja) of all three teams.
Secret Invasion: Inhumans was also mentioned (I wonder who determines whether your name goes before or after “Secret Invasion” in the title?)
Thunderbolts will tie-in, as well as X-Men, though that’s still a secret.
In short, how many fucking books does it take to tell a story these days?

Trying to keep up with Our World at War is the main reason why I stopped reading comics. Nice to see that the industry hasn’t improved their bloodletting techniques.

Probably the higher management and they are clearly thinking ahead when it comes to marketing the inevitable trades. Stuff like Fantastic Four can sell itself but Inhumans might need a bit of a push hence putting the event name first.

Indeed but this is probably only the tip of the iceberg, mind back to the amount of books they tagged onto Civil War after the initial announcement. I wonder what is up with Paul Jenkins though?
