Jeff Hardy failed a drug test. Quel surprise!

WWE suspends Jeff Hardy

Way to go, Jeff. Wrestlemania’s just a few weeks away, and you were the odds on favorite to win the Money in the Bank ladder match, thus ensuring a future World Title shot. You’re in the midst of the biggest push of your entire career, and given the insane amount of support you’ve been receiving from the fans, it was just a matter of time before the WWE would have to relent to public demand and give you the belt. So naturally, you fuck it all up by failing yet another drug test and getting suspended for sixty days. You’re not quite as stupid as Rob Van Dam, who was arrested for possession while holding both the WWE Championship and the ECW Championship, but you’re pretty damn close.

Yeah, I think that’s pretty much the end of anybody in CT trusting Jeff Hardy anymore. The Hardys are a truly weird breed. Jeff needs his older brother around to keep him out of trouble. Matt needs his younger brother around to get him over.

That must be why he dropped the IC title on RAW. But this is just idiotic from Hardy, another strike and he is gone. Someone is going to gain from this big time via MITB.

I disagree, Russ. Matt’s done a pretty good job of getting over on his own on Smackdown. He’s just never been pushed as hard as Jeff, so he hasn’t been getting those molten lava pops his brother’s been getting. If I were the WWE, I’d write off Jeff as a lost cause and give his push to Matt, if only to see what happens. He’s the better wrestler of the two anyway.

This seriously suck. And as a Hardy mark, I’m just dissapointed all around.

But Matt WAS pushed when he went to Smackdown, then he got caught up in Lita-Gate, sent some nastygrams off his web site, and ended up fired. Even though Edge ended up looking bad out of all of it, Matt was the one who ended up out of there, and even when he came back, he wasn’t the same, getting paired with Tonto until the program with MVP. I just don’t think he has enough political clout with anybody to GET pushed.

You’re right, Matt has no political clout. If he did, they wouldn’t have punished him for so long for the whole Lita-Gate debacle. But his rehiring so soon after being fired was primarily due to the tremendous fan backlash that came after he was let go.

And I wouldn’t say he was being pushed before the firing. Being cruiserweight champion in the WWE is not a push. He was getting a significant push before his latest injury, and they were definitely building towards him winning the US title from MVP. He finally took his game to the next level–for the past year or so, he was one of the best workers in the WWE, he finally learned how to cut a decent promo, and he was just as popular as his brother (though admittedly, Jeff’s popularity hit the stratosphere once Matt was injured). He should be back soon, and I would imagine they’ll restart the MVP feud once he’s back on TV. I don’t know if they’ll ever give him a main event push like they gave Jeff, but they’d be silly not to at least think about it, since Jeff (literally) pissed his chance away.
