Is the Love Guru the Austin Powers of India?

Gee, doesn’t this trailer for Mike Meyers new movie “The Love Gurg” seem, I dunno, super familar? Like, uh, maybe a tad too Austin Powersy - like it’s just Austin Powers dressed as a dude from India?

justin.JPGAll the same humor, much the same cast (hi Mini Me Verne Troyer!), and *gulg* a porno-stach Justin Timberlake in a *shudder* speedo! Yes, Justin freakin’ Timberlake! Speedo. Oye!

Now I love me some Austin Powers,  those movies are well truly hilars! But this? I can’t help but feel I’ve seen all these jokes and story set-ups before, and dare I say it, done better? Why not just make a fourth Austin Powers movie and call it a day?

Wow. Looks like Myers just can’t come up with anything new. It’s been two decades and he’s still looking at the camera with that corny “ding” smile: “I made a joke, did you get it? It was truly funny! Please like me!” It will have to be a hilarious movie to do anything. (Justin Timberlake’s 70s porno garb and knob? Blarg!!) Aren’t people tired of these kind of schtick movies? I suppose I just have to live in this sad sad world of voyeristic impassioned, tired-joke-loving, has-been-celeb-infatuated morons. Call me harsh, but honestly, when you look at what Americans are inspired by, it’s no wonder why so many other countries despise (or at least feel the need to condescend to) us.
